Haha, only Porsche owners remember the chassis number of the 911 they bought 40 years ago.
Your car looks beautiful. Wonderful backdrop!
Crazy that 278 went to NZ and 279 to Italy!

Actually, 278 went to UK. I bought it there in ‘84 and took it back to NZ with me.

We are based on the south coast of the UK, yes engine chassis along with gearbox all match.

Also 4 wheels date stamped May 1972 spare is date stamped June 1972, also still on original clutch which is date stamped feb 72, the car was originally supplied in Belgium, we think the first owner was in the chiropractor as there is a Belgium chiropractic sticker on the front windscreen.

It was then imported into the UK in 79/80 then layed up from June 1981 until March this year when we purchased the car, mileage believed to be correct at 19,000 km.

Any help in finding out about the first owner in Belgium would be greatly appreciated.

I've checked in the Belgian MoT data base but I couldn't find any info on the car ... I think that they didn't insert the obsolete data when doing the transition to the digitalized system in the late '90s ... if you wish I can try to find it via the secretariat of the Belgian Historic Vehicle Association (I'm a member and a president of a local club) ... that might issues with privacy (we might need a certificate of property) and for sure some costs associated. If you want to discuss it, pls write me at info@no-speedlimit.it .

    Hello,
I've recently purchased #1390, an Italian car I believe delivered to a Porsche dealership in Turin, Italy.
The receipts and documents are in Italian, which I cannot read. At some point in the future I'll have someone translate.
Original engine and transmission. Much of the car is original paint, however, someone sprayed a clear coat over the entire car.
It has the front oil cooler loop, a 85 liter plastic tank, small bumper guards, and clear lenses.
