paint finish of shift linkage coupler access cover

    Hi Everyone,

I have blasted the cover of the opening that allows to access the shifting coupler.

I noted that the paint that was left on, prior to sandblasting was not smooth, rather "grained". There was not much left on it.

What does the original factory paint looked liked ?

I have found a link to "grained" satin black paint in rattle can here : https://www.matthys.net/en/grained-p...black-30802905.

If the paint was indeed grained, would it be a good match ?

    Thanks for your help,

    Phil

And notice the paper washers that are present in ejboyd5's photo. These will disintegrate upon removal of the screw for the first time (ask me how I know), but belong there for some unknown reason. I'd sure be curious if anybody knows why they were used and where can they be obtained.

Phil,if you are in the US get youself a can of VHT Wrinkle Plus.Follow directions I can't remember 1 or 2 light coats. Then either use a hairdrier, heat gun on low setting and you will see the wrinkle finish appear.Best method would use a toaster oven on low.The washers on the screws should be metal according to Porsche. How do I know? I did all of this before. Good Luck.

I have powder coated them both with a wrinkle and a powder from Eastwood that they call Hot Rod black, it comes out like a heavy sand paper look Looks very original

    Thanks, Rick
