    1967 non-S (normale) engine shroud finish

    hello all. does anyone know if the correct engine shroud finish suppose to be a matte black or gloss black? should the fiberglass fibers be visible or no?

    Below is a thread that talks about restoring engine shrouds. I did mine last year when I had the carbs rebuilt. I used the Tandy stain that was mentioned in the thread and it turned out great. Below before and after photos. I cleaned and lightly sanded the fiberglass before staining.

    Wow . misinformation , the shrouds are absolutely not painted and the fiberglass fibers are somewhat visible , and they were originally semi-gloss but the gloss faded over time .

    I like the faded black look. I am keeping my 68 as is.
