    Canepa Modernized 906

Is this what should happen to Porsche racing cars? Especially with air cooled 2.0 911 engines?

This guy spent over $600,000 making a Targa Florio race car into a more comfortable road car. Yes, I know it's the last Porsche race car that was also a road car. But Jeff Zwart doesn't need these soft changes to drive his 906 on the road all the time. It's kind of a resto-mod, but almost the opposite of a resto-mod because it tones down its racing powers.

And why not keep its really cool Targa Florio colors? Though for all I know, its current paint scheme is how it left the factory.

Ok, as they say, it's the owner's car and he can do whatever he wants. And this is less intrusive that what could have been done. Still, the historic racer in me wouldn't have done it.

Not to my taste - like you said, Jeff Zwart and others keep their 906s stock and drive them ... this is overkill and $600,000 seems a lot!

But ... "All upgrades engineered to preserve the original chassis and be able to 100% revert back to period-correct race configuration'

So it's not like an RWB version ...

lot of money spent to make it worth less...
the door struts are hard to grasp given the lightweight of the doors--i wonder if the flimsy doors close propperly with this BS

for 500K you get a nice replica.i guess no one told the owner this..one with the correct windscreen curvature.
