Longstone tires has some good info on this subject, see the webpage: https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cla...rato-cn36.html

Here is a quote from the bottom of the page:

"Although these 165 VR 15 Cinturato CN36 tyres are tubeless tyres, up until the 1970s many cars still fitted inner tubes. Porsche among them were a company who continued to fit wheel that determined the need to use inner tubes. Porsche fitted inner tubes until the mid 1970s. We would suggest that the best inner tube for a 165 VR 15 tyre is the Michelin 15E13. If you have an early Porsche or any other car fitting 165 VR 15 tyres on wheels that do not have the safety rib, or you are fitting 165 VR 15 tyres on a wire wheels we strongly recommend fitting the high quality 15 E 13 inner tube."

I would be inclined to trust their recommendations.
    Cheers,

    Jones...

The reproduction Michelin tires are not a high performance tire , so the answer is no , no high performance tube tires ?

Just went through this on my 5.5 Fuchs. The TR415 valves are wide enough but the wheel hole is too thick for the valve lip to get over the outer edge resulting in the valve falling into the radial tire. I'll eventually buy maxlites or other modern wheels to be able to run radials without tubes.

I discussed the details of this with Aaron at Zims who also modifies the valve hole on deep 6’s
Since it’s costly to ship rims for this modification's…… if you have a good machinist there are a couple of tools needed..
    - Pilot needs to be made .595” dia & minimum length of .650” can be longer
    - Panamerica tools sells this cuter bore #18-217
Rim is mounted @20degrees in Bridgeport ( matches angle of the valve hole ) only go about 1/16-1/8”…
The cut widens the face ..
Test the valve stem insertion unit it just pops in without going thru …if needed go slightly deeper until pops in

You will still need the fatter/stubbier valve stem TR415

This is just my summary of that discussion ….do not accept as absolute solution…!
Please do your own research and proceed at your own risk
I have ordered the tool (on back order ,damn ) my machinist is making the pilot
Will update my experience when work proceeds

22 years ago, I decided I didn't want to modify my deep 6's with hearts, 1969 911 S, ossi blue, (if that matters), I found a set of BBS branded steel valve stems that fit flawless, they have never leaked, never been a problem.
    looking for 1972 911t motor XR584, S/N 6121622
