Trailer recovered but was empty. Lots of social media on this. For more pics of the car search "Stolen 1987 Carrera Portland OR".

Our dedicated race car is nearing completion and we'll be getting a trailer to go to races. I imagine there are plenty of threads on tips on what to do while at hotels, at night, etc. Anything to learn from this one? Am I to assume it was in the lot, hooked up to the towing vehicle, with chains locking it to the towing vehicle?

I read that it did have theft proof locks, and it is presumed an angle grinder made short order of that. Ugh. I guess I'm sleeping in the car!

Predators everywhere who don't want to work at anything other than stealing people's stuff. Yes, sleep in the car and be well armed.

Airtags, open them up and cut out the speaker, then bury them deep in the car somewhere.

I hate to say it but I don't even shop at the Jantzen Beach Home Depot anymore.

Funny thing. I was looking into getting classic car insurance for my cars. I spoke to a number of the insurers about the limitations. I use all my cars on a regular basis. I've had them for decades, long before they were worth so much. So some of the restrictions really didn't sit well for me. One of the carriers didn't like trips to hardware stores, and specifically mentioned the Home Depot. At first I thought that was a no-go. But as I realized that part of the best insurance is self protection, I haven't gone to the hardware store in my 911 since! Ok, maybe once.
