    Any pictures of the wheel after you’ve applied a product?

    I have applied a few of the suggestions, with limited results. The saddle soap did basically nothing, the look was unaffected but the leather did not soften, it still felt a bit brittle. Then I tried the mink oil (in a bar), with similar results.

    The "best" results were obtained using a neutral leather cream followed by a deep leather conditioner. The results are far from perfect, but the leather has softened a bit, without any loss of the patinated look. I will continue using this combination, applying once a week or so for a few weeks, hoping the marginal improvement continues,

    Below is a picture taken just now (the last treatment was applied on Sunday), but it's hard to see the improvement (and there is some improvement).
