Any tips on removing the clamshell to check wiring for stalks?

Good morning, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I have an occasional short that appears to be in the steering column area and I want to remove the clamshell that covers the stalks to see if anything is obviously exposed or chaffing there.

Any tips or might-as-well-take-care-of-it when doing that?

    Thanks!

You will need to remove the steering wheel. There are few screw that hold the two halves together.

As noted above, there are screws under the steering wheel and there is one on each side.

Be careful in handling the clamshell as it can be fragile. Especially the tabs at the sides of the clamshell.
