    I was talking about the...

Muffler. You smarty pants. Ba ha ha.

Who owns the steel wheeled pavement ripper above? It has a 911R emblem and a serious attitude problem. I love it!

JCR - i think they look great on your car. are they cut at an angle where they meet the body of the muffler? that would really complete the look.

    Shawn,

David Mohlman owns that car now, I believe. I think it has a 2.9 twin plug MFI. Started out as a 72 (obviously) E.

Who built your muffler? Is it standard sport? The pipes look slightly larger than normal is why I ask. Or perhaps they've been shortened a little?

My muffler is a Dansk pn 911.111 02500 DUAL 31 (the rest is covered by a muffler strap) Pelican parts purchase.

I cut nearly 7 inches off...just to be slightly past the bumperettes. No performance difference from stock to short.

Very even flow from both outlets. Very sweet sound. I had it JetHot coated gray. I see that it is black now...I just checked in the garage...the internet change has not hit the car as yet.

Thanks for the ownership tip. Shawn.

edit: I like the black...Ace Hardware - high temp - rattle can?

No, the chrome ends straight. If you look at the 2nd pic, the back edge of the chrome is actually painted black to hide the attachment - which is some sort of a weld. Then the pipe diameter narrows down to the actual muffler. I like your idea better. Figures... as you have one of the coolest 911s I've ever seen.

The shortened pipes have a better look, and I'd keep the ash color. I think it looks better than black (FWIW).

    Full throttle agreement from me.

    Shawn.

Thanks, Jack. When I get tired of it...it goes up for sale on our registry website before any other venue.

Gray or black??? Both look good to me. But there IS something about that chalky gray finish that recalls the glory days - when Porsche ruled the racing world. Looks like it's recently been GLOWING RED hot - as if ceramic fired in a kiln.
