Curiously, the seller states that in '68 there were no T,E,S model designations for the 911. In his book, however, Peter Morgan breaks down the '68 year's production numbers by model; namely the T, L, and S.
I wonder if all '68 911's exported to the US market had the side marker lights like this one wears? I recall that '68 was the first year US regulations mandated side marker lights for domestic manufactured cars, but I'm not sure if imports were subject to the then new US regulations???

I think that the USA model 911 was only a 911 L. But the rest of the world still got the T and S models that we did not. The side marker lights were required for all cars, foreign and domestic in 1968. Porsche, like a lot of European manufacturers, just stuck them on in 1968 to meet requirement. By 1969, Porsche integrated the side markers into the front and rear lights. That is a lovely car... but those side marker lights look very clumsy to me and make '68s always less desireable in my opinion.
My 68S has no side marker lights.

This car looks pretty good. My beefs are:
1) Wrong decklid - that one belongs on a 1965 - early 1967 car.
2) The painter could have done a better job by not allowing overspray under the rockers.
3) Left door jam at the hinges looks like the paint prep could have been better
Overall though - very nice, but not my favorite color.

If it is on that paper work it is a no-brainer for me to put the car on those rims again.
$60k hmmmm better not comment but it is worth a pretty penny indeed!
