The description says its not a destroked 2.7.
What car came originally with a 2.5 twin plug?
Steve
I think 'not a destroked 2.7' means it has the super rare 89mm mahles on a 70.4mm crank like the ST and not a 90x66 short stroke.
Wheres the ignition? In the one blurred pic that shows the distributor it looks like a standard dizzy, right? Most of the stuff that is making up that motor is not real easy to find.
I think the 89 mm pistons were used with a 66 mm stroke to get 2.466L. The other version the factory used was a 86.7 x 70.4 which produced 2.492L. This engine must be using the 66mm crank.

So, we're talking a long stroke 2.5 here? The torquey 2.5?

The missing 12 plug dizzy would easily add another $3-4k to the final price of the engine.Originally Posted by Shuie
Anyone approximate what the compression ratio and HP output would be on this engine?
I live in Tucson and if any one is real interasted in this engine I will look at it, Although I am not real fond of the person selling it, his shop had done alot of work on my car for the previous owner and I am spending alot of time and money now to make it right.
Sounds like there us a story here that could benefit some of us.....after this sale is completed - maybe you can fill us in on the details of the work being redone.
Is the motors at Chuck's shop? Don't know much about Redline's reputation.

The factory 2.5 short stroke engine was made in 1972 (after the long stroke 2.5) and was used in the ST race cars. The 2.5 with MFI made 275 HP. Assuming no additional head work has been done, the compression ratio should be 10.3:1. The factory port size on these was somthing like 41I and 41E. This would be a killer race engine, but a little too high strung for the street IMHO. Even if you were to switch in a milder cam, the ports are too big to flow well at low RPMs. Of course this is all assuming it actually is built to the factor 2.5 short stroke spec.Originally Posted by gruen911
