    1968 911 or 912 Coupe Wanted

I am looking for a really good parts car as a parts doner for my 68 Rally cars. Must be a coupe with good door frames and black interior parts. The body and mechanical condition are not important one way or another. A rusted or wrecked car would be ideal one that has nice trim and bits. Maybe I am dreaming but it can't hurt to ask. Thanks guys.

    Best,

    Don

    Don,
I jus bought a very nice 1968 911L with mostly 3.0 running gear (engine, front and rear suspension, front oil cooler are from a 1980SC). It's a 3.0 liter 911SC dressed up like a 68L. What exactly do you need?

Are you parting this car out??

    Hi Rick,
No. Just curious to know what Rennman needs. I might have some extra parts. I sold the 72-73 sportseats that came with my 68L, and am in the market for some decent period correct seats or some knockoff GTS or PeterZ sport seats to replace them. My overall plan is to lighten the car, so I might be willing to part with some interior and trim pieces, sunvisors, door handles etc...

Basically I need a really good parts car that I can break up and spread over my 3 68s. I need door panels and window frames , dash ect. ect. Thanks.

    Hi,

I just found this board today, it is a great resource. I have an old Bimmer but am looking at older 911's and 912s. There is a car that turned out to be a total waste of time for me, and I felt so bad for the guy I offered to help him sell it. The details (and link to pics) are below. BTW he is in San Francisco, not sure how you would get the car. He got a proposition from one guy in San Diego and thought of delivering the car there-maybe he would do the same for some additional cash. His price is 4.5k but really all he is very negotiable -- eg a car worth about 3-3.5k that can fit his dog--and he will be happy. The dash has no cracks, the seats are mushy feeling but have no rips, the body is awful (as seen) and the engine looks rough also. While it is a 68 a friend who looked at the pics said it really is a mix of parts from different years of 912 /911...

(this is from my "home" forum of E30 BMW owners--but the pics show up well

Wow--- I hope you didn't drive in the 912 with the seller!

This looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

I didnt' drive it because it wasn't running at the time. I think he has since gotten it started (the ignition wires were messed up due to an attempted robbery)--but now he said the carb's need adjusting (1 went out) and he doesn't know how to do that. So the car is sitting around San Francisco
    continuing to get beaten up...

The owner told me "rust wouldn't be a problem" but the surface rust alone
looking at the car told me he was wrong immediately. Now that picture,
which my camera caught (I stuck it underneath the car)--does that mean
that the front suspension pan is rusted through? What exactly are we looking at (sorry for my ignorance) Another guy who looked at my pics said the rear pan may need to be done also. It didn't look like the floor pan was rusted but who knows...I couldn't lift up the carpet to check...

Any education is helpful because tommorow I am going to see a 1974 911
Coupe that the owner says has visible rust -- but a rebuilt engine- and
I need to see just how bad the rust is ...

    thks Marvin
