What should be in a complete tool kit?

I am trying to figure what should be in an early factory tool kit. How many tools; what exactly they should be; how you know it is original?

    Hi don,

You should contact Soterik but even he may be unable to find the correct tool kit for your 1961 911!

His car is a '69S that is missing one screwdriver. Dr. Johnson's book is the easiest reference. I wish I had my scanner here at work. I think this will do it (pic of 70SATMan's kit he recently sold - it's from a '70) :

STOP spreading rumors! It's still for sale! SELL, SELL, SELL!

Yep, that's my kit from my 70S. Non original screwdrivers. But, hey, they are German though. In a moment of pure weakness I bought a no issue kit from Scott Emsley. Another good source of info on early kits.

I also forgot the fan belt in the picture. I have that too. SELL, SELL, SELL!

    Don,

The two best information sources are the pages from your Owners manual and the toolkit section of Brett Johnson's Authenticity book.
    These two are 'must haves'.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

Here is one of the '69-'73.5 kits I have had in the past. I don't think the towel came with the kit and it is missing a bottle of glycerine. Other than that I feel it is a complete kit.

    Contents:

    - Phoenix - Porsche 9.5 x 710 fan belt
    - Toolbag
    - 10,000 volt flat blade
    - 10,000 volt phillips
    - P208 fan belt wrench
    - 19mm straight end tapered lug wrench
    - Pudenz fuse pack
    - 21mm Klein spark plug wrench
    - 10mm allen wrench
    - Hawepe pliers
    - 19/22 box end wrench
    - large script "Drop Forge Steel" wrenches- 8/9, 10/11, 12/13, 14/15, 17/19
    - Bottle of glycerine (I think this is the correct one?)

With a note... There were differences in 73' with bags, screw driver and sparkplug socket.. and the jack... Johnsons book is minimal at best... He does not point out any various changes and details beginning with the 1964 models to 1973..
