Anyone have any idea how tight the 4 M13 engine mounted oil cooler bolts should be? I don't see anything in the books. There probably isn't a specific setting but I don't want to under or over tighten them.
Thanks!

Hello: Tighten the nuts to 16 Ft/lbs. Thanks Eric
Thanks Eric. Is that listed somewhere in the workshop manuals? I also have the spec book but didn't find it in there either.

Hello: The torque for the nuts that hold the oil cooler on are just covered under other M8 nuts are torqued to 16 ft/lbs. Thanks Eric
Wayne Dempsey lists the 4 studs in the oil cooler housing in his engine rebuild book as M10 size. He used a later engine as his example, so maybe the stud size changed over the years? His torque value for the nuts is 35Nm or 25.8 ft-lbs, same as the M10 case through-bolts. He lists M8 for the size of the "outer perimeter nuts" on the crankcase, and has 25Nm or 18.4 ft-lbs. for the torque on those. Your original post said M13, Steven--was that a typo? I would verify the size of the stud, first.

Hello: All the oil cooler mounting nuts are M8 up untill the 993 that I know of. You are correct on the torque of the nuts but with most torque wrenchs they are usually about 2lbs off at that low of a setting. I've checked my Snap-on torque wrench and it is 2lbs off on the bottom settings till I get to 26 lbs. I guess Wayne is incorrect in his book. Thanks Eric
Thanks guys. It was a typo. They are m8 and not m13. Late night post! Thanks for the responses.
