Paternie's Red Book lists:
1967:
S Coupe 1823, 305101S-308523S
S Targa's 483, 500001S-500718S
and he informs:
"...The production info listed above were taken from an april 1991 article that appeared in "The Esses", the newsletter from the early 911S registry.
Early 911 production records contain a number of inconsistencies, so it is difficult to present an exact production count. According to Vern Lyle, author of the article, Mr. O.Lang in "Technical Porsche Service at the Factory" confirmed the 1967 911S totals presented."

The numbers overlap Normal and S and, therefore, must be gleaned from other sources. The accepted S production numbers for 1967 911S model year:
1823 coupes and 483 Targas. There were a total of 4141 911 Porsches produced for 1967 model year

This took a long time to put together! I worked from the serial number ranges (Barth book and others). I've got another spread sheet which I'll publish with much more detail. At that point I'd welcome additions and corrections.

Great work Allan!
I have two questions, are these numbers all model year and not production year? The reason I ask is that I have read in another tread that there where just aprox 1800 cars of 1965 model year.
The other question for everybody is; is it likely that there was built 6544 T's in 1970 and just 2517 T's in 1971?

Hej John!
1963 were prototypes and, perhaps, a lot of 1964. It is also true, however, that numbers from this period are, well, more sketchy. As for the LWB data, those numbers are confirmed by several different sources and, unless I have a data input error, are very likely correct.

Allen, that is one nice compilation of quantities..good job.

I have searched extensively in the last week trying to find the best resource for production numbers. I'm curious about my car: USA spec 911L coupe(fixed head). Several books list #449 as the official number for this specific USA version.

I feel this board with it's membership should be able to derive the most accurate production numbers and list it on the website. Certainly with VIN number listings for members, we should be able to get some idea. If someone has a higher VIN, then we could prove these frequently mentioned/published numbers are incorrect.
Allen's chart is a terrific start.

Thanks for posting that chart, it was interesting to look over. Pardon my obvious observations, but I found it surprising to see that there were more 1967 911S made than 1967 911 normals produced. In fact, the rarest model, excluding prototypes, is the 1967 911 normal. The most common model is the 1970 911T. As a person with a 1971 911T, it feels good to be twice as special as a 1970 T I couldn’t help but note that there were more 1967 911s coupes made than any other year of 911S coupes -- and yet they are often considered the most collectable. Thanks Allen,
SCOTT
