It's what started it all Paul...........
It took me months after seeing this ad to join and send info to the two nicest and most trustworthy people around.... ... Man, I could have had a MUCH lower membership number...
... and so it goes
'Here's to Vern and Betsi, with success in whatever you're doing now'...
You started an illness that's awfully hard to shake.....
Cheers,

Great to see the BBs early roots. If you find any more, please post. Nice to know history.

This message board's parent club has been in existence for over 15 years...
The first 5 years under helm of Vern and Betsi Lyle in Pennsylvania... and the last 10 years by the board of advisors here in California.
We've come a long way my friends...
BTW - We have almost all of the former issues of the ESSES news letters dating back to 1990 available...

Interesting. I dug up the first magazine and it was titled "901-THE PROTOTYPE", dated November 1990. Brings back fond memories when Chuck came down to Escondido and we test drove each others cars. I wish I had never sold my S but I'm back in the fold with an E that is just a driver.

Paul.
Thanks for sharing. It is interesting to see the roots of the club in this ad. The interesting thing to me is the club was originally just for '67-73 'S' models.

What I'd like to see is all the Esses scanned and put into .pdf files for posterity and perhaps kept in a password protected vault here at the registry for all to read. Most of the later issues were probably already done in software that could be quickly turned into a .pdf and the earlier stuff just needs a good scanner.
I would volunteer to handle this task if interested. I have the equipment and the skills to do it. All issues sent would be promptly returned to sender. It would be my contribution to a great group of people.

Hmmm . . .
Name isn't familiar
I remember Craig Stevenson having some guys over to his shop, in Costa Mesa --- early '90s? . . . and pitching me about something called The Early 911S Registry. He'd just picked-up a tidy/bone-stock '67 S --- ivory + black 'Porsche' side stripe . . . I thought it was an original/un-restored car, too. Still have the tee shirt he threw me, somewhere
I thought he was nuts. Back then 356s were the only REAL Porsches, to me
What's a 911?
And a Vern Lyle was on Pelican, just yesterday . . .

If that's The Founder, then . . . what's THAT story?
Thanks Paul for digging this out..... and yes I do remember this. I am pretty sure I picked up one of these brochures at a Parade we went to, and they were handing them out, or leaving them on a table by the registration.
I know I have one of them in my stash of Porsche lit. collectibles; just have to go mining thru some stuff to find it.
And no.
I didn't join then either. Lurked here for a quite a while before paying my dues and getting a GREAT high quality magazine finally, that I really had no clue I was missing out on.
That would be a surefire way to spend long winter days by the fireplace, reading old papyrus scrolls from the past !
Count me in for some of that ~~~
