Notes: "This auction is for a stunning Guards Red 1970 Porsche 911T that has been extensively upgraded to “S” specifications and beyond. The engine, transmission, clutch, ignition, and suspension were upgraded and rebuilt less than 9,000 miles ago when the car had 98,756 miles! I have receipts totaling approximately $24,000 in a binder that I will give to the next owner! This Porsche has been owned by 2 different PCA members since 1992. This Porsche requires no repairs at this time and is ready to begin the spring driving season! Below is a highly detailed description of this incredible Porsche!

    911S glovebox emblem

    911 steel door lock buttons

    Mechanical Condition

This Porsche performs, sounds, drives, and handles incredibly as one would expect with less than 9,000 miles on all of the high-dollar performance upgrades listed above. I would expect that the drivetrain will offer the next owner many years of thrilling performance at minimal maintenance expense. The high-performance driveline and updates makes this 911 an ideal foundation for a 911R, 911RS, or 911RSR replica.

    Cosmetic Condition

    Paint:

Cosmetically, this car is a “driver”. This Porsche was originally Irish Green and was repainted Guards Red prior to 1992. Close inspections reveals a mediocre quality prep work, making the paint job a presentable “10 footer” (i.e. looks nice from a distance). There are quite a few paint chips on the lower front valence as one would expect with a paint job that is 15+ years old. A cosmetically fussy Porsche enthusiast would want to have the car repainted.

    Rust:

As with most early 911s, this car does have rust. I removed the carpets and carefully inspected this 911 prior to buying it so there would be no unpleasant surprises. Fortunately, this 911 has not been undercoated like many others have to in attempt to camouflage or conceal rust. On 03/12/07 I put this Porsche on a hoist and photographed the areas with rust and have included them in this auction so that there will be no unpleasant surprises for the winning bidder and so that I will be able to maintain my 100% feedback rating. There is rust in the following areas:

The areas where the outer section of the trunk floor pan meets the center section of the trunk floor pan. The center section of the trunk pan was replaced prior to 1992, but not the outer sections.
The passenger side battery box has a hole on the bottom of it that is less the diameter of a quarter. I have installed acid neutralizing “Battery Mats” below both new Interstate batteries to protect the battery boxes from further deterioration
There is a narrow isolated section of rust in the floor pan where the feet of a passenger sitting in the passenger-side jump seat would rest
The lower edge of the driver’s side door skin is bubbling from the inside out. The previous owner told me that this door has looked this way since he bought in 1992 and hasn’t deteriorated further since that time

    Wheels:

The Fuchs wheels are in beautiful condition, have no curb rash, and no corrosion.

    Interior:

The carpet and seats in this Porsche are in beautiful condition. The carpet is a charcoal color and is not faded as it may appear in the photos. The dash pad has the typical cracks one would expect to see after 37 years. I currently have it covered with a Dashmat, which looks very nice and reduces the annoying glare created by the sun. The headliner appears to be original and has a tear in it in the rear jump seat area. This is something one would replace when and/if they decide to repaint the car.

    Overall Summary

This Porsche will be appropriate and an incredible value for a Porsche enthusiast who wants a high-performance early 911 without going through the frustrating heartache and huge financial expense involved with modifying and rebuilding a 911 to this level, but doesn’t want a car that is so cosmetically nice that he or she is afraid to drive it. Please do not bid on this Porsche if you are a fussy concours-type who is unwilling and/or unable to make the investment of performing a bare-metal repaint."

    Year: 1970
    VIN Number: 9110120033
    Winning bid: US $8,275.00
    Date sold: Mar-28-07
Notes: "This 1970 911T is one of the classic small bumper Porsches which are some of the fastest appreciating sports cars in today’s markets because of their relatively low production numbers and the fact that most of the ones produced have since been modified beyond recognition or have simply corroded away and been scrapped.

This is a fun and sporty vintage 911 and is ready to be taken to the next level by someone who will put it to use. The build date on the body sticker is July of 1969. The engine number stamp is 6105056. The VIN number matches all of the locations on the body that we inspected. The carriage was done by Karmann. Original paint code is 1313. Transmission is the 901 "dogleg".

The interior seems mostly original with the exception of the front seats which appear to be from another 70's model, the steering wheel, and some stainless trim peices added by a previous owner. The radio is also gone. The rear seats are in good condition as most are due to the fact that nobody can really fit in them.

The exterior is in great shape with no signs of collision. The glass is good. The tires are almost brand new.The headliner is in good shape, and the carpet is fair.

The paint is glossy, no cracks or bubbles like most cars of this era have, but there is a surface scratch on the driver's side (see pictures) and there may be a tiny rock blemish here and there, but the car looks good as you can see.

The car starts up every time when I follow the owner's ritual of spraying some starter fluid in the air intake trunk, pressing the gas pedal, and turning the ignition. The engine revs and runs strong. The car is not being driven currently due to a gas leak on the lower seals where the carb meets the body on the left side. I think that the seals simply dried out as the car sat for about 4 years. We had a Porsche shop quote us $500 to redo the seals of both carbs. The best part about this car is that I haven't seen a drop of oil leak, which is very hard to find for these cars.

Mechanically it seems sound, it does smoke as most of these vintage cars do. The actual mileage is unknown. The pans seem solid with no visible rust. A previous owner siliconed the seams of the pans, I can't see any spots where it is rusted through. The only rust spot that I found is on the passenger side battery box. Car comes with spare FUCHS, needs second battery."

Notes: "This is a real nice 1973 porsche 911T targa in excellent condition, well maintained since new, a restored California car. Fue Iinjected 2.4 eng,5 speed trans, fuchs wheels BODY is perfect, fit is perfect ( doors and lids) perfect floors ( no rust ever - any place). No accidents. The black paint is flawless, new OEM German rubbers and seals were installed. Interior is excellent with Original seats just redone in leather, Nice. Targa top works fine and has been redone in german cloth, very nice way to go , no cracks or tears. . The dash has no cracks, door pockets are great . Engine=The 2.4 Engine is numbers matching and has been completely rebuilt (only 100 miles) ,upgraded to a '74 911S 2.7 liter engine and balanced. New bearings, gaskets and seals, new Mahle 911S piston and cylinders, Delvar studs. New bronze valve guides were used before the 3-angle comp. valve job was done, new chains, ramps and we chose to upgrade to 930 tensioners with the safety locks. This is a proven, fail-safe way to go and maintain a period look of the engine. We also used the '74 911S fuel injection and went through it completely and installed a pop off valve. This is the smoothest most dependable fuel injection that Porsche ever used. New clutch, smooth shifting 5 speed trans (915), front oil cooler. Suspension= The front and rear suspension, struts & brakes were upgreaded to 1980 911SC. Koni shocks, adjustable sway bars , this car handles very well, stops on a dime. Every thing works except the clock, Full polished 7 inch Fuchs were intalled with new tires, Dealer installed real RS flares, (back in 1974) notice the RS side decos and the steel rear bumper (RS),rare stuff, not SC. There is a lot of time and money spent on this very solid original California car. .The winner will get a repair order for a fresh engine rebuild and We guar. the engine for 6 months. The Reserve is low and very reasonalble. This is a very smooth, fast, great running classic porsche., no issues. If you would rahter have the recarro seats and the red steering whell seen in some pix on the link, we will be glad to swap them out for you."

Notes: "History: This 911T has been sitting the past 7 years or so and is in need of work to get it back on the road. The engine turns overs, however, the carbs are frozen. This would be a great weekend project or restoration canidate.

Exterior: The exterior of this car is good shape. It does have rust. There is rust in the lower part of the doors, fenders, rockers, drivers side battery box and some in the floor pan. The front suspension pan is in good shape. This car has steel RS flares, ducktail spoiler and RS front bumper. Included with this car is a 911 S spoiler.

Engine/Transmission: This car has the original 2.2 engine in it. The serial number is 6114226. The engine looks to be in good shape, however since I personally never had it running I cannot verify it. The Zenith carbs are frozen and need to be rebuilt. The transmission is intact and like the engine, appears to be in good shape.

Interior: The interior of this car is in good shape original shape. The passenger seat has a tear. The dash has a crack. It has the original Blaupunkt radio. The targa top has seen better days it would need to be rebuilt or recovered."

    231,197 MILES ON ODOMETER
LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON REBUILT ENGINE

    3 OWNERS, ALL CALIFORNIA
    VIN 11890227

1968 911 w/Fuchs rims and Recaro seats and aftermarket steering wheel give it a more updated/newer look. The car has been a fantastic everyday car since I bought it in 1991. The 912E engine runs great keeps maintenance and fuel costs minimal. The car appears to be rust free. It has been in California all its life until 2004 when it moved to Utah and was driven in the Fall, Spring and Summer.

The car is in very good condition, but needs a little TLC. See pictures: there are some tears in the seats and I removed the front spoiler with the intention of replacing it, but have decided to sell instead. There are normal rock chips in the front hood (see pictures). The driver’s side painted headlight rim is bent, but a chrome replacement is included. Because of the engine conversion, the oil temperature and oil level guage don’t work."

Notes: "Early 1969 911 T with rebuilt 2.4 liter T motor with PMO carburetors. Rebuilt Alternator with new bearings charges and regulates perfect( PMO is the company in California that has bought the tooling for Weber. Weber carburetors are no longer manufactured. PMO now makes carburetors for expensive race engines and MFI conversions and are built at a way higher standard and tolerance and have roller bearings in throttle shafts. I ordered these carbs from Performance Products and waited 8 months to have them custom built for my 2.4 liter T MFI conversion. I paid over $3,000 for them. They have float bowl glass windows and they are awesome. These are the carbs that are on $80,000 engines and are jetted for my specific application and work flawlessly. ) All gauges and sensors speedo and clock are in good working order. No rust in pan except for small hole in passenger side that has been repaired

This auction is for a bare, rolling shell only.

I was restoring this car but simply ran out of money. Look closely at the pictures. A lot of welding has been done but a lot is still left to do.

The rocker panels are new and came out great. The front suspension pan was done by the previous owner and, while it's solid, it sure isn't pretty. I also had the battery boxes repaired and new fender fastening plates installed. These areas look nice.

The shell was blasted with walnut shells to the bare metal and coated in Veri Prime self-etching primer. This cost me more than I want for the car.

The floors are fairly solid but are a thin in the pedal mounting area. The worst part of the car is the rear package tray area and the little wells where the rear seats would be. Look at the pictures. Better yet, come look at the car.

A previous owner began installing SC/Carrera type fender flares. Again, see the pictures as much work is needed in this area as well.

The wheels shown are not included but I have some wheels that I will put on it so it will still roll

This would make a decent starting point if you can do bodywork, are building a race car or want to swap all of the parts from your really rusty early 911/912 over.

Due to it's age, there is no title, but I will provide a bill of sale and previous Vermont registration which should be all you need to title it in your state.

The car is currently stored inside but will need to be picked up shortly after the auction's end. Please come look at this car before bidding - I've taken the best pictures I can and descibed this car honestly, but I don't want anyone to be surprised when they see it. This is a BIG project."

This car has been converted to the European style using all factory parts. All of the original American delivery bumper parts are included with the car. It is all bolt-on stuff and could be put back easily.
Lens surrounds and horn grills are chrome instead of black
American delivery seal beams were replaced with European delivery H1/H4 type.
ALL original parts are included with the car.
    CONDITION:
    Exterior:
Outside of the car is excellent. This car received a repaint in its life in 1980 in the correct 8080 silver, using lacquer paint. The original silver suffered from delaminating despite the original owner’s fanatical care. Those of you who are old enough may remember the problems with the original silver paint on some Porsches in the early 70s. The car was moderately disassembled for the operation, and the original paint was and is still intact and in perfect condition in the doorjambs, inside of trunk, underside of engine lid. The lacquer repaint lasted 25 years and was showing some micro cracking typical of lacquer and a few stone chips. Since it was not original paint, and not looking that well, a second respray was undertaken during August, September and October of 2006. For this respray, a similar approach was taken: preserve as much original paint as possible, including door jams, underside of hood and engine lid. To avoid possibility of chemical interactions with the lacquer the entire outside of the car was stripped to bare steel (all photo documented) A wonderfully straight and rust free car was revealed. This car was never crashed or rusted anywhere, and no panels have been patched or replaced. Interestingly, two areas of slight damage were revealed, a small dent in the right rear quarter fender lip, and a small dent in the roof above the right sun visor. The original owner was unaware of these, and we concluded that these were dealer fixes to the “minor marine damage” indicated on the original delivery sheet.

The car was treated to some new rubber in the 2006 respray, front and rear glass seals, fender to cowl seals, and misc. body seals, much of the rubber remains original. This time a much more durable base/clear urethane system, in correct 8080 color.

The window frames and trim shine like chrome (like they are supposed to) as does all of the S type trim package. The car still retains its original steel S spoiler and its original date-matched Fuchs. The black sections only of the 4 fuchs on the car have been refinished, the anodizing remains original with correct gray strip. The spare wheel finish remains entirely original. The car retains all of its original tinted glass.

    Interior:
The inside of this car is nothing short of breath taking. The original owner put sheepskins on the leather seats and steering wheel for 32 years, taking them off occasionally only to take care of the leather. The result is PERFECT original (not recovered) leather seats that look and smell like new, and a PERFECT original steering wheel. This works out well since the original dash, instruments, knobs, radio, door panels, door pockets, rear seats, and carpets are also PERFECT ! Not restored, just never damaged or dried out or even disassembled. (Exception: door panels have been off for door handle removal, original plastic sheeting remains undamaged) The inside is a total time capsule. Original air conditiong blows 40 degrees at vents!

    Trunk:
As stated the trunk sports all of its original contents (fuchs spare, jack, tools) in addition to the original lining and wood insert in perfect condition. Pull everything out and you are treated to the sight of correct dual batteries in original rust free battery boxes wearing original paint, and a perfect front pan also wearing original paint. You’ll also see 100% original wiring with no modifications ever !

    Mechanical:
As one might expect the car received fanatical mechanical maintenance, as over 150 pages of records show. Oil changes, gear oil and brake fluid changes, services and valve adjustments were performed religiously as records indicate. Never any major work done, and engine never out of car. Clutch and transmission work perfectly….no syncro problems. Car starts, runs, shifts, drives, and handles exquisitely. Recent improvements include Carrera chain tensioners, new alternator. In typical fanatic fashion all of the original tensioner parts have been retained. Recently made 400-mile trip in south Florida summer in trouble free air-conditioned comfort. Independent Leakdown Test Performed 03-17-06 at 71935 mi:
    1-9%, 2-7%, 3-5%, 4-6%, 5-5%, 6-8%

Car spent its first 22 years in Tennessee, the remainder in South Florida. It was purchased new as an enthusiast’s toy and was never used as a daily driver. The owner was active in PCA since buying the car and has attended countless PCA events and parades….Second owner is Porsche shop owner who serviced the car for some years, and continued the fanatical care in proper fashion, including the 2006 respray. Enthusiast owned since new and it shows !

    Some extra notes:
Original and perfect black leather seats are currently in car. OE European sport seats (vinyl outers, corduroy inners) available at extra cost."
