    engine numbers

here is the engine number stamp from a M471 rs 2.7 that was sold last week:
    Attachment 35793

this is a 3-owner car that was in Italy, I know the car and is very original and correct.
Here is the one from my 2.4S, again an original car:

    RS or S?

If the other stamp shows up these are fair game for a comparison.

On my '73S the stamped VIN in the trunk is painted black with the surrounding area in body color. Isn't that typical? The RS is bare metal.

Does anyone have an original engine who's stamping is that crooked?

    October 2006 Chandler Auction (Goodings)

($165,000) $181,500 last year with "caveat" engine stigma. Pre-sale prediction of $165-$225 but who knows what the caveat did to that sale?

    August 2007 (Bonhams)

    ($240,000) $271,000 Bonhams.

Net $58,500 to the seller. Tidy profit for sitting on it 10 months. Hello, IRS? We have a capital gains problem. (If he's lucky he's not at the 39%+ level.)

Will Bonhams issue a 1099 for monies disbursed?

I watched this car go on the block after a car I ran went through Bonhams. It is definatly a nice car, but I had to laugh when the auctionier noted the 3 disk Alpine CD changer as one of the features. I noted: incorrect hood badge, radio, wheels, paint code tag was not stamped and glued on (no rivits or holes), dash was fair, paint was very good, fit and finish good, sounded nice and strong.

I didn't see the engine though.

How about the Lightweight that Blackhawk Collection had for $450k!!!

Or the Brumos 74 3.0RSR that Gooding sold for $810+ buy fee

    What a weekend.
