Thread: Where does #8 screw into???

    Where does #8 screw into???

Not to be cryptic, but I can't figure out how to install my battery straps:

Where does the threaded end secure itself? This is the beauty of trying to fix a POs ghetto bungee cord solutions...

    Kenik,

there is a hole in the tank support with a threaded insert. The strap threads in to that. Here is a photo

Looks like I need to get out my sander. I don't see these in my car. The too thick repaint in my front trunk hides many things; fortunately no rust yet.

Could it be that the replacement part for the front tank area does not come with these threaded inserts?

Cars which have had this piece of metal renewed will in this way lack the threaded insert for part #8.

Dunno. Does anyone have a photo of the driver's side? My car has a boss for the strap to screw into, but it seems in an odd location, almost six inches outward an several inches forward of where the one on the passenger side is. Is this an accomodation for a charcial cannister? If so, how's this work?

kenikh, what you're seeing could be the location for the battery hold down on later models, assuming that piece was replaced.
