    Gas Tank coating?

    Guys,
    I had to buy a new gas tank for my 73.5T. It is currently in it's birthday suit with no paint or undercoating whatsoever.
    Can anyone advise me what is the best stuff to spray on it A) to make it look original, and B) to make sure it never rusts?
    I was thinking about spraying on some type of zinc primer and then laying down a few rattle cans of 3M rubber coating?

    I had mine down to bare metal, used POR-15 in a wide belt around the seem/edge, then acid primer, then SKS Stoneguard Wurth and on top, the grey color which some of the later long hood tanks had. make sure the guy he shoots the SKS shoots it VERY thick, I was not 100% pleased with mine because the texture was not perfect. I also sandblasted the rust along the seem/edge, filled two pin sized holes with GB Weld and acid washed the inside.

    the bad news is that I have to do this job with the tank in my 71S too.......
