John - the loop is part of the fender mounted Cibie hoodlamp.Originally Posted by johnhora

Ever wonder what those steering wheel holes were for?
I was thinking rally horn button, but it's a race car so "flash to pass" or radio communication?

What is the deal with this Bob? The doors should have the pin unpainted as the door was painted then mounted to the body with the pin. The bolts then would be painted. This photo just tells me that the car has been repainted... Am i missing something?Originally Posted by bob tilton

Not sure Michael. I just thought it was a nice detail and added it to my "to do" list. A friend of mine did the same thing - just a nice touch.Originally Posted by mjmoran

The door pins should be CAD plated...most likely silver and the bolts should be painted. The idea is that you can remove the door without messing up the alingment of the door...pop the two pins, remove the check strap and the door is off! Maybe they were forced to do it this way since those door pins are REALLY in there. I would not want to be the guy that has to take those out...talk about some buggered up paint!

Good pics guys. At least a half dozen details to examine in each pic. I like the one painted section fuch on the 914.

Some questions have been asked if this is historically correct (cutoff in horn grill) but is how the car was restored.
