I have a non-sunroof 1970 911T that has had a few modifications and it's share of rock chips along the way. I bought the car a little over a year ago, I am the fourth owner. It is one of the classic 911s everyone looks to own. I absolutely love driving this car and will miss it greatly.
I took these photos this morning and also have two videos to post. I'll put up the videos when I get back in town on Wednesday.
Originally this car left the factory as a 1970 911T in India Red with Tan interior. In the late 1980s the car was restored and the RS flares were added. The front and rear bumpers were changed. The rear is steel and the front is a fiberlass S replica. At the same time the car was painted metallic gray. The mileage is guessed at 215K on the body since the odometer has turned over.
Cosmetically I'd call it a good looking car that you won't be afraid to park while you run in the store or as a car to race. There are a few dings, the clear coat is lifting on the engine lid, and some chips are evident. I recently stripped the black paint from the window trim and found someone did a not so great job of stripping the chrome. I have done what I can to even out the finish of the trim but it either needs more elbow grease, to be painted black, or to be re-chromed.
I have the original maintenance booklet and a collection of receipts dating back to the early 80s.
Here are the stats as I know them....
1970 911T with 2.2T engine
1974 Mag case 915
Passenger's side axle with new CV boots/grease
Swepco 201 recently put in but still a grind on fast shifts in 2nd and 3rd
All new bushings in the shift mechanism and coupler
No idea if the 2.2 has been rebuilt, based on the way it drives I would say it has been rebuilt once. It does smoke on startup and pulls strong. The rear main seal leaks on the garage floor. Turbo valve covers and Carrera tensioners have been installed. The only other early car I've ever driven was my brother's '71S. I can tell you it has not been rebuilt to S specs but it seems to not be a stock T motor. The fan strap is for a 2.4 engine and the engine number is for a correct 2.2. If I had to guess it is either a 2.2 built to E specs or a 2.2 turned into a 2.4.
New OEM Porsche Sport engine and transmission mounts
New Dansk sport muffler
Restored air cleaner housing
New fuel lines in the rear of the car
New fuel filter
New tunnel boots for the accelerator cable and clutch cable.
Recently rebuilt alternator, new voltage regulator
Dual Batteries replaced a few years ago
The original fuel evap tank was split in half when I bought the car. I have purchased another tank but not installed it, the tank will be included. The windshield washer tank is also currently not installed but will be included.
The windshield wiper arms were recently stripped and restored to their original finish but I haven't taken the time to re-install.
Sucro headlight relay kit
7" H4 conversion with 55/60 watt bulbs
Recent valve adjustment but valves are still a bit noisy indicating worn guides
Neatrix bushings in the rear suspension
New Konis all the way around
22mm Weltmeister front sway, not currently connected because one end of the bar needs some machining to be square again. I have restored linkage with new bushings ready to be installed.
Standard Tan seats
New RS Carpeting
Fittipaldi steering wheel
Real 15x7s and 8s with new Bridgestone G-Force Sport Tires 205/55R15s and 225/50R15s
The car needs new suspension bushings and ball joints up front as well as the things mentioned above.
As far as rust the front pan has been replaced within the last few years and both rockers were replaced at some point. I found two small areas in the front wheel wells with spots of rust and there is some perforation in the driver's side longitudinal ahead of the rear suspension area. The corners of the windshield and rear window show a bubble. I will post photos later tonight.
At some time a rear sway bar was installed and brackets were installed on the torsion tube. I removed the rear sway bar and the brackets can be ground off.
The tach and speedo bounce a bit. I think the speedo needs a new cable and the tach may need to be rebuilt. The voltage is stable with the new alternator.
Here's what it looked like before re-finishing the wheels and with the old tires on it.
This engine picture is right after I finished replacing the topside gaskets and cleaning up the mess from a breather oil leak. The breather was planed flat prior to re-installation and hasn't leaked since. The breather hose was replaced with an OEM unit. The air cleaner housing was also stripped and repainted at the same time. The vacuum lines have been replaced. The heater hoses were also replaced at this time with OEM parts. Since this photo the fan finish has dulled out, I will take pictures of it reassembled today.

Here are some pictures of the trunk and toolkit.
I think I forgot to mention the DOT stainless brake lines that I installed last year.
I've had a lot of virtual tire kickers. My work schedule can be a challenge but I'll do my best to work with interested parties.
