what year(s) is this kit appropriate for?
Well, it's for a carb car..., I have my parts books at work, but if someone has the 67 to 71 parts books you can determine which car it's for. If nobody replies by tomorrow, I'll let you know.
The plug number will tell you a lot, W265p21 is either E or S, W250p21 is a normal 911.... etc. etc. There's about 5 different plugs that were put in these kits. Of course you can always swap out plugs, points, etc, to make the kit correct for your car. The really earliest ones were blue.
Just my .02, from looking at a few of these over the years.

I'm curious, were these optional in the early cars. I owned a ton of early
911's and never seen one if these before, very cool.
Phil
I believe this kit is for an early 911S. These kits were available as an option item such as leather seats, rear wipers, etc. Here are a few close up pictures.

Like other period travelkits for UK and Italian cars, it helped owners to have 911 spare parts handy while traveling and ending up with a mechanic or owner far from ordering any item in UPS speed...especially in Europe where travelling meant crossing borders within 250 miles , currencys, languages, markets with mostly domestic cars...etc.

The travel kit is for 1968 911L, and should have spark plug Beru #260/14/3s..
That's what the part number is for anyway.....
So, with the S plugs it's probably the same as a 68S travel kit.
Note that the part number for a 1967 US travel kit is #901.721.903.01, and a Euro 67S is # 901.721.903.01
My memory is that 67 travel kits are blue. I've owned one, and seen 2 others.
But since the knowledge on these is pretty thin, I wouldn't personally care what color it was as long as the kit contents were correct.
Note that from 68 on, all the bags are grey.... I have 4 kits, and they are all grey, and the others I have seen were grey also.
regards,
Eric
