    Help Me Identify a Radio

I was cleaning in the garage yesterday (Ok, I was looking for something and had a move a bunch of stuff around), and I found hte radio the PO gave me when he sold me the car. I am trying to determine if this could have been the original radio.

It is a Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette unit. Its says it is a model CR-4073.

    It looks like this:

    Blaupunkt Lubeck CR

Dr. Brett Johnson's book 911&912 Porsche p.57 indicates that the Blaupunkt Lubeck CR AM FM Cassestte was catalogued as a factory option for model year 1973.

CR is probably notation for cassette radio.

I don't know if yours is the Lubeck model, but it is probably close enough to fool all the concours judges and the face plate looks F series specific.

It's an "A" Frankfurt, should be for a 1969 car, I bet it has the blue dot on the face.

The blue dot came in 1973, in US, at least (edited..for the Frankfurt anyway). Although, of course Blaupunkt is literally blue dot, didn't have one for a long time.

Allen, according to this site, the blue dot probably appeared in 69 or 70, with the A or B models, I've certainly seen B Frankfurts with a blue dot.

    OEM Factory Installed

Radios, that I have seen in 911s in the US didn't have the blue dot until 1973. The pictured radios, with other than JUST a chrome bezel (that is no faceplate, black or chrome) are the factory installed radios I have seen here. For example, the radio pictured at the top of this thread I have not seen in a factory installed US Porsche.

This is certainly an interesting topic. What I am 100% sure of is that both B and C Frankfurts (1970 and 1971 models), in the European model did have the blue dot. How do I know, I have both of them. The first picture is from a B that was in my 911 before I found the correct Z Frankfurt. The second is a C Frankfurt that is in my BMW, both European however.
