Has anyone have any background or feedback about rebuilding Solexes for an early 911 with him?
Thanks

Casey,
A few years back Kenik posted on the Technical Info form what one could consider a definitive article on the feeding & nurturing for Solex carbs:

Good luck with the carbs and the car.
When properly setup the engine will really scream a sweet song!

I've had Bieker do many Solex's for 356's. High quality workmanship and expensive. I know that it's the insides that matter, but the outsides are just beautiful when he is done - the carbs are automotive jewelry. It's not like buying a set of PMO's though where they are set up so well all you have to do is bolt them on. With Harry's rebuilds you will have to dial everything in.
Cheers,
JohnA
P.S. He's also a heckuva nice guy.

The Webers (67S) went to a private gent' in CA. They are puurfect!
I sent my 912's Solexes to Harry a few years back and although they look excellent there was much fussin' around and I think I still do not have them set up right. I also found lot of 'stuff' inside the barrels.

Marco,
I disagree, Harry is the standard and has been for 50+ years. I do admit that service can be slow but the fact that Harry is getting close to 90 years old probably has a bit to do with that. I send him 4 sets of very rare 4-cam carburetors and would not trust them to anyone else.
Harry's may come back with soda blaster residue inside. Be sure they get cleaned, Kevin washed his. I'm speaking from an observation, only.

When you get ready - talk to Kevin Stensrud in Minneapolis. He spend all of our trip down to Rennsport Reunion fine tuning and jetting the Solex's. He had them running rich at the start of the trip just to make sure his 400 mile from new engine wasn't in harms way. By the time we got to the Florida boarder they were perfect. Day, night ,hot, cold, no flat spots, no hesitation, no stumbling and great power. Our initial cruse speed was 65-70 and grew to 85-90 by the time we got south.
To top off that trip Hubert Kinzler introduced himself to us and looking at my engine number, recognized he built my 1964 engine just before the factory sent him to the USA to train the american mechanics on the, then new, 911 engine and Solex's. His first question to Kevin was " how did you get from Minnesota to Florida with out holing a piston? In 1965 Hubert got so good at changing burned cylinders he could do it with the engine still installed in the car??? Lots of jetting and carb tuning talk insued.
Talk to Kevin, he has the fix.
Hubert is in the straw hat. With "Kstens".
