I remember seeing this car on display at Pebble, fresh from restoration.

Odious, dreadful, dismal little car.

Comes from that same dreary post-war mutt-nest as the Hebmuller, Denzel . . . even Beutler. Weird, ugly, icky. I mean, jeez --- fake grills, suicide doors, swirly wheel spats --- what could be further from a Porsche than this pile? Ferdinand would laugh if he saw such a beast. Then spit. Nothing that he would build --- much less put his name on. Woof!

Calling these nasty little mish-mashes of components 'curious' is being more than kind. Just don't call them Porsches. They're the absolute total antithesis of what a sports car is, let alone a Porsche.

From the standpoint of aesthetics, I think the contemporary Gmund coupe or early 356 is an acquired taste --- and I love those cars. But even though Erwin Komenda's designs are not exactly what I'd call beautiful, they are built to a purpose. Check out his other-worldy Berlin-Rome car (where everything that makes a Porsche comes from) . . .

This 60K10 is strange . . . but beautiful because it works, with the engineering, mechanicals, and aerodynamics, all contributing to the function of the thing, all doing a job.

But this thing? A carriage for rich Swiss bankers and their golf buddies, who didn't fight in the war --- just sat on the sidelines and got rich loaning money (to both sides) --- then showed up, when Germany was split-up, occupied, and in ruins . . . with this.

Yikes.

+1, Rick. This car has been >ahem< wrongly assigned a questionable provenence, to say the least. For years the story followed it from owners to brokers hawking what is essentially a custom Beetle. It has been embellished, retold, edited... it just isn't entirely true. Gets the 356 boys quite aggitated. Enjoy:

As a period piece it could be fun (if gross looking, and grossly overpriced). It would be nice if someone bought it, accepted what it really is and enjoyed it for that.
It really is an interesting car... but the claims are false.
