1973 2,4S ever delivered with RS flares?

Please help me with the following question.

I have a friend that needs some sort of documentation that the 1973 2,4S was possible to order with RS flares as an option. I think I read at one point that a few cars was delivered this way. Anyone possible to confirm/disconfirm or help out with some sort of documentation.

I have seen some pictures of the RS pre production 2,7S with RS flares, but what about the 2,4S production car

There are a couple of '73S cars that were flared at the factory that I can think of. One is the ex-Nick Roveda 911 with "bump" flares and there was a Targa with RS flares that was modified before delivery. Chuck's were done in the 70's but after delivery.

    Factory fitted flares

    John,

There is a '73 Targa down here (NZ) that according to the previous owner, came from the factory "special ordered" with flared rear fenders. I believe it was originally delivered to Hong Kong. The car changed hands several years ago, however I could contact both the previous and present owner and see what I can find out regarding any documentation for you.
    Stay tuned,

    Cheers,

    Thumbs up

    I agree with Randy,

The only none-RS 73 flared 911's that I know of are the 2 that were delivered with the 'Rally/bump flares'. The ex-Klein/Roveda/Audette car that is completing restoration with flares intact. And a car in Europe that was restored with the flares being removed.

    As Randy said,
My US delivered, April built/June sold '73 was flared by the first owner during the first year of ownership using parts ordered over the dealership parts counter and eventually applied by Dan McLaughlin of A.I.R. by late '73.

It would be great to learn of documented exceptions...........

    John,
I believe the RS flares were also an aftermarket addition as well.
When I did a tourist delivery of an Australian spec 2.7 S in March 1974,I met up with another Aussie who did a tourist delivery on a late 2.4 S which he had Porsche install RS rear flares with 7s and 8s.
These were unusual additions for an Australian car in the day and I think he was going to do some sort of motorsport with the car when he returned to Aus.
An interesting aside was that Rudy ordered the 2.4 S in Raspberry - code 4545 - and when he took delivery at Stuttgart the colour had somehow morphed into code 5454 - you guessed it -Sepia.
Rudy was furious as his holiday was to return to Aus in a years time so not to pay full duty,Porsche cars Australia were unhelpful and Porsche Stuttgart would sell him a new 2.7 S at a greatly increased price over the 2.4 S.
That said,I believe he kept the car regardless for quite a number of years after his return from Germany.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.

European Collectibles had one two years ago with a COA validating the flares as a special order.

Are you referring to "The Penske Car"?

    Also:
COA = questionable work of possible fiction.
    Kardex = non-fiction.
