    Insurance problems

I'm having a problem getting proper coverage for my 71t that I recently had converted to ST specs. The underwriter cannot find any cars sold for more than
$28,000 and inspite of the fact that I submitted receipts for all the work performed, total cost of car and conversion was approximately $130k ,they will only insure the car for $30,000.

I know I have seen cars that have been restored or modified sell for large amounts, does anyone have links to those sales?

You can look up my '72/3.2 hot rod sold in June. I got just over $30K for it (had higher offers, but preferred the ultimate buyer).

Getting it insured for 30k is easy, that's what they are offering to me....I want it insured for 100k, which is still 30 below replacement cost.

What I need is documented sales of either restored cars or hotrods that are in the 80-90 plus range, to show my agent.

Plenty of quiet sales in that range, but most buyers and sellers aren't broadcasting the numbers.

I've got my 73S insured with Hagerty for 60 and they never questioned the value.

My recently acquired RSR tribute car is insured by Hagerty. I stated the replacement value and they quoted me a reasonable price on that value. No hassles, no justifying the price.

Also to more directly answer your actual question, here's a link to a nice early hot rod that sold recently for >$90K.

I will probably end up with Hagerty. It would be simpler for me to stick with State farm, since they insure six of my cars, and I have large multiple car discount.

    Rob,
Talk to Dave. He knows appraisers, and they found all the comps, etc. It was a little spendy ($300, I think), but then the insurance company gets the full monty. I had no problem. Hope things are well in MD.

    try Chubb

I started a thread awhile back when I switched from Hagerty to Chubb. Since then, I have been thanks by several members on the savings from the switch.
