Tom,
Wow... labor of love is right! Thanks to your devotion to this thread we all know there's as much 'right' to this car on the inside as well as the outside.
Just fantastic!

Tom
absolutely amazing! I only hope for an opportunity to see it in the flesh at some time.
I am blown away at the amount of detail and the great explanations throughout the build.
It is worth converting it all into a book like Bob's - I know I would buy one just for the photos and amazing reference material

In keeping with the original dual purpose nature of the "ST," ch nbr 694 is prepared with some rally equipment as well as circuit racing parts. Here is a good shot of the rear skid plate. Race and rally equipment on the same chassis would not have been at all unusual, particularly at such demanding venues as the Tour de France and Targa Florio.
Ed, there is more to look at here:
901.385.035.00 Stone protection plate for engine and transmission (ALU)
901.111.041.00 Exhaust gas line, left (header)
901.111.042.00 Exhaust gas line, right
901.111.043.00 Diffuser (2)
901.111.015.01 Muffler
Also:
-Quick release clamps mounting muffler to support bracket
-Quick release clamps mounting diffusers to muffler
-Note bungs welded onto the head pipes to accomodate fitting an exhaust gas temperature probe, used to set the mixture and injection pump at some point in the past of ANDIAL 129.
The Race Department had the rear skid plates fabricated from thick guage aluminum plate. Note the contours of both the leading and trailing edge for added functionality. Note that the plate lacks paint; these were delivered in bare aluminum.
It becomes obvious to even the casual observer that the race engineers thought through the potential use of all these parts in unison: the precise fit of headers, diffusers, muffler, skid plate, sway bar etc. is testimony to their attention to detail and desire to provide the competition minded owner of a 911 a complete package of compliemtary equipment for sports purposes.
And, there are a couple of items in this pic that we have not seen in prior posts...
Ed, I know that you can find them...
And, to those who posted kind words, thank you all for all for your positive thoughts!

Dave:
Here are some images of the companion piece to the rear skid plate: the plate that protects the gas tank at the front of the car.
The front stone protection plate is fabricated from steel and is painted satin black. A square of ribbed "nep" rubber is glued on its top surface to pad impacts with the bottom of the tank.

The rally instrumentation most often fitted to the "ST" included a Halda Twinmaster and a Heuer Rally Master. Different equipment could be specified according to the requirements of the co-driver but a Twin and Rally Master seem to have been fitted most frequently.
Here we see the ubiquitous Halda "taxi meter" and Heuer Rally Master mounted together on a factory style mounting plate and resting snugly up against the open glove box cavity .
The plate was most kindly gifted to the project by a mate in Oz.

For further details on Halda please refer to posts 328 and 329 of this thread while details relating to the Heuer Rally Master can be found on post 330.
This alloy cased Halda Twin came from a nice gent who used it for rallies in the Pacific North West. He lives now in NorCal. When we wired up the power the old Halda's lights glowed, as if it had been waiting all these years on the ready for its next opportunity to provide a night time read out.
Many will recognize the source of the rubber boot on the Bosch battery disconnect switch mounted on the speaker grill.
