I have just been playing around taking a couple of photos on a quiet day before I add TTG lights to the car and change the look.
Thought i would post them here for posterity, and then new ones when i change the lights etc

The thread on the colour of the side stripes in the last few days, along with a desire to put 2011 behind me, motivated me to dig out some side stripes I got from Bob Tilton (thanks Bob) and put them on the car for a new look for 2012.

While I was there and I had a bit of time on my hands, I decided to test fit some Hella 118 fog lights I have had hanging around with Eric's fantastic new horn grills (they are great Eric and fit almost perfectly straight away) and to complete the new look put on the Carello Biodes that I got from Raj that I have fitted inside a set of SWB Hella mountings with clear Hella lenses. Raj, thanks a lot, you are correct they are a great stealth look for an early car - not noticeable unless you know what to look for or unless they are on (I am fitting mine with 130W High and 70w low beam).

I added a closeup for you Raj so you can see them properly.

At this stage the lights are sitting on the car not wired up - I need a good auto electrician to wire them all up with lots of relays so the wiring loom is not fried. I am planning to have the stock wiring loom only switch relays for all lights and all power to the lights go directly from the battery - hopefully that way I can preserve the life of the light switch contacts.

The change of look can be seen by comparing with the shots in the previous post which were taken on Christmas day.

The only thing I have not done (due to a lack of talent and the fact that I will get someone to do them properly in the near future) is to mount the new front Brembo AM-caliper brakes from Eric at PMB. Again a fantastic product available due to the amazing resources on this board.

Wishing everyone on the board a happy new year

I knew I forgot something. When you first brought this car home and posted I recognised the chassis # and have documented proof that this car was the personal property of the Porsche family, then made a good showing in the Monte Carlo rally, then was sold to Steve Mcqueen and then was thought to be lost forever. Sorry I forgot to mention it, can you put it back together?

Harry, that is not the pic I expected in this thread, but it kind of made me smile (and shiver all at the same time). Well, was the work worth it? It didn't look like a car that should have been parted out. Kinda cold to be doing that sort of work outside, no?

    Funny Strato - great comment.

Since it is a post your ride, I will also post a pic of one of my rides. Sorry not a longhood this time, but close.... 1975 911S 70k miles, original paint and for sale.

yeah, i know its not the type of pic to go in this thread, but figured it was good for a laugh. i couldnt help myself :P

the work has been worth it so far, but have a ton of stuff to still sell. the car was rusted out in all kinds of places. the front end was only held in where the cross member bolts to the frame (which i am not sure how it held). floors and rear seat areas were fiber glass. vw engine. 70s mercedes rear brakes on the front (too small to be safe). the deeper we dug the bigger the pos. the rocker panels were aluminum siding rivited to what ever metal was left in there.. it was not safe to jack up in the normal place (had to jack the rear by the engine and luckily the torsion bar is good). when im done ill post a thread on how rusty this thing was.

Jens, it really is a lovely color. Helbgelb 119 - Light Yellow.

Wow Harry, I had no idea what a POS that is. Sounds like everything belt line and below was rusty.

Another pic - an oldie, but a goodie. Taken by our own intrepid journalist, photographer, and prolific trouble-maker - Mr. Conklin.
