Did I miss a good deal on a small diameter steering wheel?

Saw this auction just before it ended, couldn't decide what to do: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...vip=true&rt=nc

I want to be better informed, next time.

    Tom,

Not necessarily... I've found out (the hard way) that a lot of sellers don't know the difference between real leather covers, and the fake leather grip that does look like it's sewn on. The "leather" looks a bit shiny to me. But, it probably wasn't a bad deal given that sometimes those horn buttons can sell for a few bucks as well. Note that the horn button wasn't taken off, so it's hard to know if it was an early or late wheel.

looks like a 914 wheel which can be easily modified to fit early 911 steering columns.

The all fit, but the later 380mm 914 wheel needs to be drilled to mount to a 911 and utilize the cancel ring.

Thomas (Milou) the one you've linked is being sold be a member here (though he doesn't participate much here, he's more on Pelican).

It looks like he's nicely refurbished an original leather wheel. Probably not a bad buy considering that you can pretty much tell at a glance the difference between a newly covered wheel and an original wrapped leather one. The small dents in the leather might come out with heat.
