Or you can have a little of both. 100 lbs less in the rear than a 6 and the weight is forward like a 4. Power in the 2.4 to 2.7 range. Some look for the most power. Some look for balance and handling.
Harry that looks like Christie Martins twin plug, even the Irish Green car color.

The lighter, better positioned flat 4 has me intrigued. But the Polopolous is too $$ for me. How much HP can you squeeze out of the original flat 4, while still having reasonable reliability and longevity?

From what I have read, building a hot rod 912 engine is just about as expensive as a 911?

I did a fair bit of research before taking the '6' plunge. you can spend a LOT of money on a 912 4 cylinder and still be 100 hp short of a mildly built 6, and nowhere near the torque. I do like the idea of the lighter weight and much better weight distribution, but, for me, the 6 made more sense. it was an easy build, and I'm too lazy to learn another engine. also, the fours are a pain in the *ss to do work/maintenance on. the weber 6 is a picture of simplicity.

Actually the main reason I went for the 3.2 was bullet proof reliability. Cold, hot, on a hill, down a hill - no stress every time. Carbs were giving me the x€¥£ s!
