anybody know the difference between a 67 and a 68 sport seat besides head rests or is that it? Also are all head rests spports in the top of the seat or attached on the back with the chrome straps and round head rests ? Chris

I have a set of 68 sports. Checked on a prior post and the seat back profile is the same as the 67. As you mentioned the 68 (US) version has the head rest integrated into the seat back. I think the barrel style head rest installed on a 67 seat may be be a recent affectation, but maybe someone more learned in this subject can speak.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
Attractive interior, appear to be standard coupe seats though.
Can headrests be retrofitted to seats that did not come with them? I have a 66 no-headrest seat and I want to know if the mounting hardware is lurking under the vinyl somewhere.

yes - you just need a set of the mounts, which are the same as late 356. Squared oval shaped, about 50mm wide, mount with 2 screws.
Thanks to all who chimed in on my question on 67 vs. 68 sport seats. But after reading the thread that Raj put up -- my seats came without head rests because it was a Euro delivery car. I think all US cars were required to have head rests starting in 1968 by DOT. My car was custom ordered with driver only sport seat. I wonder if the factory could tell me if that seat was also ordered with a head rest? Chris
