The Targa Floria has been called one of the toughest sports car races in the world, one of the most sophisticated and one of the oldest. All three descriptions would be accurate.
Yes, Terry Zaccone of Golden Gate Region in California has been tracking & auto-crossing his 1968 911L long before I joined PCA in 1973. He is still at it...although much slower now that 'Obama/Biden' are his copilots! Photos taken at 2012 Porsche Parade AutoX in Salt Lake City, Utah. Back then in the early days of the Targa model, everyone believed that the Targa's chassis flexed too much to be desirable in racing. Yet, the original owner of my 1970 911E Targa would normally take it to all NNJ Region track events (Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, etc) in its early days and thought it handled just great!

I always wanted to do the Newfoundland Targa. At least I don't have to ship the car overseas; it's on my bucket list.
