Hi which antenna would be correct for a 1966 911 non US model with a Becker Mexico Radio? The Kardex said the car came with a factory installed antenna.
Thanks.
Jay

Although I cannot help you with the answer to your question I would love to see a photo of your radio if possible as I'm doing research on Becker radios for euro spec cars.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
To the best of my knowledge you won't be able to get exactly the right antenna. The original was a Hirschman (I'm pretty sure that was the only brand) with a chrome hold-down. You can still get Hirschman's but not the same length as the originals. On a factory installation there was a stabilizing bracket mounted to the front fender brace and then to the antenna sleeve, however the new Hirshmans aren't long enough to reach that point, so I put extension sleeves on the antenna to make them longer and reach the original bracket. This can only be done with the door removed, which is simple if you have the factory hinge pin puller which I have, very worthwhile tool.

Here are some pictures for illustration. Can't speak as to the 'H' on top. Notice the stabilizing clamp and the extension to reach it. The stabilizing clamp was factory installed so I didn't want to drill new holes to raise it.

Hirshman is the quick and easy answer and probably 75-80% correct, but.....there were Bosch "blue tips" installed on late 356s and early 911s...my '70T had a Bosch "blue tip" from the factory. All the original antennae, Hirshman or Bosch had longer metal tubes either aluminum or zinc plated steel with the door jamb bracket. The bracket was in after market kits as well....not exclusively factory.
The Bosch "blue tip" had a plastic pale blue tip cylindrical in shape, maybe 5mm tall with a domed chrome cap, there were two slots at the perimeter edge of the cap for a key. The key had an oval body with a very short neck ending in two prongs angled at 45 degrees which would fit into the slots on the tip.

Is it possible to use an old tube from an original antenna with the new antenna's being sold today ?

I haven't eye balled the housings of either a new or old Hirschman or Bosch to see if it is crimped, threaded, or simply pressed.....and the diameters may be different. I thought the one posting using simply a longer sleeve was clever and simpler. A piece of aluminum tubing to the right inside diameter would do the trick.
