She's on the road now. What a fantastic noise she makes!!!!
Bye bye RED, hello GREEN..............
My BFF asked me why would you do that? Its the intangibles, I said. Nostalgia, perhaps. Or maybe just the noise she makes when caressed. But both owners are happy.
Looking forward to meeting other long hood fanatics in the PNW.
That's quite a Bong you have there![]()
What is the color code on the Green Machine?
No clue. I'd like to know myself but it's been sprayed sometime in the remote past, including the plate on the door jam; 50 footer at this point. Planning to order COA for this and other info.
Yeah, the large bong is a manometer the PO devised to check the air flow through the stacks and TBs prior install. Worked really well. The PO is a pretty sharp guy. She was idling quite high when warm, discovered the vacuum lines were not attached to the TBs after I adjusted the 6 idle screws each a 1/4 turn. Will readjust, then do valve adjustment, dwell and timing check and synchronize air flow using manometer again.
You better pack that thing up and go for a ride!![]()

cold start problems, backfiring (pre and post) - found microswitch disconnected, vacuum lines to TBs not connected, timing was way off (30 deg retarded), dwell out of whack - corrected best I can, now she pretty much purrrrrrs, with occasional "popping" noises. she now idles at 1K rpm, timing at 2-4 deg BTDC, and 35-38 deg @ 6K rpm. Need to adjust dwell again. Valve adjustment will be done as soon as I can get to it, then check, measure and adjust again as needed. Also, will check for exhaust leaks at the the heads - how do I do that? I think electronic ignition is in her future based on what I've read here and elsewhere.
When it gets the munchies, does it chug gas?
