Yesterday and today my recently acquired all original 53k miles 83SC went airborn for engine out service and various winter details - my first on a Porsche - and my first with an awesome lift. Thanks Fritz - it would make a drive to Tucson a real pleasure!! I sort of fumbled into the car, but it is a good one and a great way to get going here. Happy New Year!!

Moved the 73rsr to drop the engine out of the 914. Kind of counts :-)

whats the weight difference typically in factory rods? what was considered "acceptable"?

I don't have my spec book here at home, but I think it was roughly 5 grams, also about the same for pistons,,,,,but don't hold me to this

OR 5 $1 dollar bills. Whatever it is the trick is what that weighs at 6,000 rpm. It's actually quite a bit.

Or if you've read the "Smoky Yunik" books he claims really tight balance is immaterial once a bunch of oil gets on those parts! I still aim for zero tolerance anyway!

Removed some nice late 80's trick blue paint by hand from these s cailpers to reveal the original gold coating. Now to reseal and add some stainless cups before refitting.

Remove the rear shock absorbers and install the 2 nice Hella registration plate lights.
Soon on the road again. Still few hours on top of the 80 hours already spent.
