Thanks for the tip about the radio --- and for reminding me

To be honest --- getting a radio for the Nasty Car was no where near as big a deal as getting that power antenna. The Porsche Museum already passed along several German contacts for radios --- see post #443 . . .

. . . and, last time I checked, a fully-restored + functional + warrantied + etc Euro-band Köln = ~$600 + 4 weeks . . . pretty reasonable (I think), considering that what we're talking about is a 40-some-year-old piece of antique/obsolete electronics

And I probably should feel guilty, too --- since I doubt that anything I get will ever be used much . . . even if it ever gets installed. The antennas have been extinct since forever . . . and I don't listen to a radio in the car . . .

No, it can't."1059" was (factory reported) sold to Siffert only in april 1971, about one and a half year later than it was built.
Therefore, it cant be 1059 on above pic.

Is it possible that the car was a factory "loaner, press, etc..." to him until he then purchased it?
I have seen cars on loan for a while...sometimes quite a while... then the person decides to purchase. Showing a much later date then the actual time with the car.
Just a thought.

That's kinda where I'm leaving all this, Harvey . . .

. . . 'Cause I'm thinking that --- whatever Mr Siffert did w/ the Nasty Car . . . Porsche originally ordered 1059 to do some kind of 'service' for the Versuch/Test/Experimental department. And the only way I can think of to find out what that 'service' was, is to make The Trip --- to The Archives . . . and request an opportunity to go through any records/logs/photos/etc that I can find connected w/ Versuch. Because I'm hoping that somewhere, in amongst the accounting records, meeting minutes, time cards, gas/mileage statements, + motor-pool logs . . . there'll be something about a car called 9110301059


I find it odd that Mr Siffert purchased the car a year later --- possibly already damaged + repaired?, even . . . while he already had at least two other very-similar cars. He was a Dealer, so . . . maybe The Nasty Car was just something he could purchase cheaply, then easily 'flip' for a profit? Or, perhaps the car was a 'convenience' for him --- a car to use for business calls, longer trips . . . bad weather. Or maybe it was just a car that he fancied --- for whatever reason. Who knows? All I know is that she ended-up his

If 1059 was a factory runaround of some sort, it would need registration. Usually Stuttgart based. Isn't there a German registration anywhere on the current documentation?

Very little documentation came w/ 1059. Some receipts, but odd-ball stuff --- like, for some coco mats, in 1992? . . . and I do have Lou Scalzo's bill-of-sale to Mark Albaugh, but . . . not much else. And Mark had that car 23 years

I keep paper/records/files on all my cars. 1059's fill up a box, already --- there's a 2" binder full of just e-mails . . . and that's only 5 years-worth. As for organizing all that? . . .
