As good a thread as any to comment:
Those of us in the biz are having an incredibly difficult time these days finding good job candidates. Whether it's Ohio or AZ the older guys are retiring and the younger guys don't want to do anything physical, and certainly not for less than 80k yearly. Not sure what the future holds.

Where are the sons out there who love Porsches and want to make an honest living turning wrenches on them?

The future may not matter,,,,pretty soon if the car has a problem it will just go in the 'recycle 'bin and the 3-D printer will just spit out another one

    Oh, and by the way:

The nuevo boutique guys don't like the word "mechanic". They prefer "technician".

One interesting fact: Back in the day a good mechanic had to know his way around a machine shop and be a decent fabricator. Now most "technicians" have never even used a lathe or know how to weld.

With the demise of most shop classes in high school and the emphasis on building the latest app, I'm sadly not surprised...

If I could get a visa to work in the states I'd be there in a flash.
I'm 29 so have probably ~5yrs before I blow my back out and get sick of being told about how good the old days were.

$80k Frank?! I'll smuggle myself over the pacific for that kind of cash (Not sure how much I'd get done if your as funny in person though)

    Cheers

H-1 Visas are not just for computer geeks. If someone has skills that a US business requires and cannot find domestically, they can request a Visa for a foreign worker.
