I thought you wanted $15K for the original 100L tank - I think that is the market now just for the gas tank - I would put a 1 in front of that 15 for the car - everyone else is

I know what you mean, the original 100l tanks are nearly impossible to find and I have seen prices in the $12-17,000 range for JUST the tank. That combined with the seats, wheels, 901/13 Transaxle, low mileage 2.2L engine, Webers, etc - add up to well over $30,000 in parts value for this car.
I bought the 69 E with the idea of taking the 100L tank, Sport Seats and maybe Deep Sixes for my 1968 911S. The seats would be good substitutes for the near perfect Elephant Hide seats, The 6's would allow me to put my very nice Deep 5.5's out of harms way on a shelf and the tank would mean less trips to the No-Ethynol gas station that is a 25 mile round trip.
But when I got the car home and looked at it closely I realized that all of the rare options were probably delivered on it from the factory. That combined with the great original color made it impossible to break this car up in good conscience. So I ordered the Kardex, which confirmed it.
Obviously, I hope the new owner feels the same way - that the car is worth more to the Porsche community than the sum of it's parts.
Would love to see pics of your pachyderm posterior platforms.
Beautiful.
The Holy Grail of leatherettes.
Thank you.
The car has been sold.
I would agree it should be saved IF it had its original engine. But now its a coin flip.

Congrats on the sale. Cool project for someone.
$15k for an original 100L tank?
That can't be right.
