There's only literally a handful - half dozen or so true '65 RHD's- show me a pic of the area of interest and I'll photograph my highly original car, RHD vin #3.
We believe through my research the first four RHD's were built in two batches of two in the werks department through early to mid '65....

Mind you and as most know, Porsche also had problems with the front end and after the first (German) Test drive by AMS magazine by Mr.Seiffert in early January 1965, the factory needed to add the legendary "wheights" in the front bumpers. The order to improve was out on January 20th 1965 by P.Glockenbach, Aichele notes that after 301340, all cars received the wheigts as standard in their front bumpers.
my car being 301349...Ill add the weights to the long list of "needs" when it goes back to a street car.
Great information
Dennis
Is the AMS - auto motor und sport - from 23.january 65 available for all, or should i scan and translate it for archiving?
the 7.august 65 test for the 912 is already online with translation at

Hi Bob,
many thanks for this great input, special meaning to your input as it appears to be your post # 1000
Some comments:
- on the rubber mats, it would be great to know how 1964 cars have been delivered. I agree that the pictures in brochures and manuals might not reflect reality.
- will be taking your info on the tank release into the file, thanks!
- the air grill confusion comes from a statement in Dr B Johnson page 23 that is went to black in 1966. I have also been confused as many early cars have the black one, so possibly it was black first, then dull alu following Dr B (actually I believe that should read dull stainless steel), changing to black again in 1966
- do you have any indication on when the tailpipe non angled chrome cover was introduced?
- 6 seat folds: I know that car 984 had 6 folds. Again, also here possibly a fuzzy change period
- 6 centre piece wood: our registry confines the change between 567 and 835
You refer to car 952, do you have full input for us on that car for our overview?
Cheers, Jacques
