    De Maria . . .

From the address, outfit started-out as Orange Motors of Coral Gables, Inc, apparently, then became . . .

    . . . from the '70 PDL . . .

    De Maria Porsche Audi, Inc
    234 Bird Road
    Coral Gables, FL 33146

Not the best shape, paint-wise --- but looks like white lettering on grey-blue back-rounds; flash-chromed w/ no Makers' marks/ID. Nicely/surprisingly detailed, w/ some light 'pebbling' on the insides of the letter-boxes, then both boxes very-delicately framed . . . all lettering in a nice/bold font. Plate = std FL pass-iss (2000-3500 gvw)

    Not exactly a common frame --- but more 're around than I woulda thought . . . all w/ this same 'inverted' format = Dealer-on-top + location-on-bottom

Coral Gables = Miami, so . . . a very chi-chi 'hood, then. Even more so, now. De Maria sold Porsches thru at least the late-'80s. McLaren has their store at that location, now

Here's a DeMaria frame I sold on ebay within the past year. Can't remember what it sold for but my best guess was between $100 & $150

Only appears once in the PDLs --- for '72 . . . = another one-year-only dealer, looks like

    Just a truck-park/warehouse district today
I've seen one of the frames from there. I believe it was black with white text. Unfortunately I don't recall where I saw it.

Two of the frames pictured are the frames I mentioned earlier as having been salvaged personally by me at the Hermosa Beach dealership while a third is from my 1986 targa with 15k original miles that was purchased new from VP. These black frames are the most recognized and most valuable of the VP frames. Yours are both earlier frames. The Manhattan Beach frame is from the VP location that preceded the Hermosa Beach location. Your other frame is, in my estimation, the second rarest of the known VP frame varieties - second only to the b/w frame with the single Porsche crest as seen in this photo:

Surprisingly, the rarer frames trade at a discount to the more common (but still hard to find) double crest b/w frames. My guess is that people just prefer the look of the double crest black frames as these routinely bring $200 in only fair condition and I've seen NOS ones sell for as much as $500.

As for plateframeking on ebay, your wholly incorrect about them. I've been dealing with them for many years. They make their living digging out these vintage frames wherever they may be and they've been doing it long before there would have been any money in reproducing these things.

If you're looking for a VP frame, the repops out there are easy to spot - they identify the dealership as being in Redondo Beach and, while VP did have an overflow lot in Redondo for a short while, they never advertised this location on their plate frames.
Here's a $10 Brumos swap meet find by a 356 friend a couple of years ago!

Yup! Took me 15 years to find that frame. Paid $350 for it 12.2013. I usually run the frame on my VW bus

    Scott-Penske . . .

    From the '72 PDL . . .

    Scott-Penske Porsche Audi, Inc
    2120 33rd St, SW
    Allentown, PA

Dull white lettering in matte gray letter-boxes, flash-chromed, no Makers' marks/ID. Plate = std PA pass, bicentennial ed.

The successor to R. Penske's solo effort, from the previous year + the same address. Business still exists + @that address --- shows 1st filed on 05-Jan-73 . . . but Scott Volvo + Scott Mazda occupy the property today

When I think about all the stuff that was going on Back Then --- right around that time . . .
