Late '68MY - Which pair of horns?

My car was a June '68 build and I would like to try and understand which pair of horns it should have (although built as a Sports Purpose T at the factory I don't think that will have had any impact on the horns fitted).

When I took the horns off the car there was a Bosch 'snail' 400Hz and a Hella 'flat round' horn (can't see a Hz figure on the Hella), see photos below; although they both looked to be of a similar age I assumed (very dangerous and something I am really trying to avoid these days!) that the other 'snail' had been replaced at some stage by the 'round flat' Hella.

However, having now studied the '65-'68 Parts Catalogue in detail I see that the '911T' and the '911 USA' (Coupe & Targa) were fitted with:

901.635.112.02 "Bosch 400 Hz" - so looks like my 'snail' is original

    and

902.635.102.00 "Bosch 335 Hz" - from the diagram in the Parts Catalogue this is a 'round flat' of similar appearance to the Hella found on my car.

I suppose my question is - was the Hella fitted as an alternative when the car was built or, as I originally assumed, has the original fitment been replaced? If it has been replaced can anyone provide photos of an original Bosch 335 Hz (902.635.102.00)?

if my non-expert thoughts would help, i researched the same issue and determined that the snail shell horns were correct for '68, unless you have a 912. i'll be interested to see the input of others.

    Why would a 12 be different? Which horn would it have? I ask only because I have a '68 912 & a 911T.

the parts manual (figure 9/3, dated 3/69) shows a round horn (901.635.102.00, 901.635.112.00 (with the note "up to chassis no 301 224") and a snail shell (901.635.112.02), with the note that the snail shell was "from chassis 305 101." the manual says that the horns are "only available in pairs."

also, the note at the end of the part description says, "from chassis No. 301 225 up to No. 305 100" for the round horn.

at one of the swap meets, a 912 Registry guy told me that some of the 912s had the round horns after 305 100. to me, it didn't make sense for Porsche to carry two different sets of horns, but that's what he said.

if i was performing research on my car, i would assume that "Bantam's" round horn was a replacement and that the snail shell was correct, but my scholarship is not sufficient to give me that credibility.

I am afraid I don't know in terms of the 912, all I know is that in terms of later '68 models for the '911T' and the 'USA 911' it clearly states that the car is fitted with one 'snail' (400Hz) and one 'flat round' (335Hz). For reference for the same period the '911S' (and the '911L' for the USA) got two 'snails', 1 x 400Hz and 1 x 500Hz.
