    Karim,

Standard equipment for Swiss market Porsche were always upscale, regarding to other european markets.
I have several Swiss market pricelists until 1973 and it always was the case.

Re the Expander 9247 discussion here is another Swiss market (September 1965).
In french, they deleted the "Fond" and simply said to hold the suitcases, they are clearly in rubber ie "caoutchouc".

    Very interesting find Jim, sharp!
Given the plausible explanation of Karim on the wording, no clear reference to the hooks in the luggage compartment so it seems. The hooks appeared in March 1965 (between 661 and 700) and seem to disappear again in May (between 1341 and 1379). Karims list is from February, which is maybe too close to March to conclude that they were certainly not meant for the trunk hooks.

If we would find a list of say end 1964, I would take that as proof 9247 was not meant for the front luggage compartment.

By the way, I believe these hooks -and the front luggage compartment straps for that matter- were pretty redundant as any serious luggage would be stuck between bottom and lid anyway if it fitted at all

13394 prototype 912 shows yet another variation of these hooks.

Fastened with screws rather than welded.

Seeing the welds on the brackets I know why...

wow Frank, where did you find this one, great. My early 912 (Karmann 450186 from April 65) does not have them. Did they ever appear on a production 912?

    Franz, maybe you know?

well well well....i had some similar DIY type hooks ..they came in a box along with a roller project `65 912 i bought dec.24 2006 9pm on ebay .(yes i remember exactly caus mrs. was not too amused seeing me sitting in front of the pc and waiting to place my bid secounds before the end of the auction .... on this very special day... but it was a bargain.
and yes they took my driving license on the way back home from berlin....speeding with a loaded trailer on the german autobahn.

i think i dumped the hooks in the waste metal bin...

Re the expanders/luggage straps, I started a new thread:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...1968-and-later
Looks until Modelyear 1967 all 911/912 had (optional) Elastic expanders. Only by 1968, one could order leather ones, instead.

BTW, re the luggage for rear seat configuration, in english the item was translated differently and maybe (in edition 1965) wrongly.
In 9/65 printed, they write "trunk", in 10/66 and later then the correct "in rear passenger compartment".

Is this another feature that changed also early in 1965? On cars 661 and 700 (March 65) we find the attached lock plate for the rear lid, IE without an adjustment hole. My Karmann (April) 912 as well as on my 1379 (May) I have these adjustment holes. Anybody more information?

to come back to the hooks in the compartment...
    just stumbled across this:
In the trunk are six sturdy hooks, two fastened to each of the inner fender wells, and two attached to the latch plate. The hooks are held in place by sheet metal screws, indicating that this was the first car so equipped. (A few very early production cars have similar hooks welded in position.) Members of the factory vehicle research team active during the 901/902 development state that they often fitted the four cylinder prototypes with extra fuel containers in the trunk for long distance testing. It is though that the six hooks were initially installed for this purpose.
