burned by ebay and lost with paypal's rules

Is it me or do ebay and paypal have no idea what there rules actually are ?
I have been in a battle with both over the last 3 months , a group of buyers (it seems ) got together to defraud me via ebay on parts. once they new that i shipped free via air post with no tracking they started buying goods by the single item each week and then advised and lodged a claim that each item never arrived ....i lost around 1k of goods plus shipping costs .....
i took the issue to both paypal and ebay , i had proof of shipping of each item , i referred to the conditions listed on my auctions and that the buyer accepted them in purchasing the items. paypal / ebay always sided on the buyers side no matter what i produced .

so i went in under a new email address and asked questions to the help desk of each group re shipping and tracking. i have had many replys where they are stating that there is no rule that requires tracking , that the shipping is between the buyer and seller and what ever agreement you had in the sale.

as such i then used that against them , of which there legal dept. is now telling me a different story , so i have referred there legal teams replys to the nz commerce commission as they are in breach of nz law ....

what do the seasoned sellers on 911sreg believe the truth to be in regards to shipping requirements using paypal ?

It is not the ebay it was. It was like a community then it became a fee eating corporate machine. And it does almost always side with buyers now, and no seller protection.

Things really changed when the feedback system converted to only buyers being able to give negative feedback...

It doesn't matter what the shipping rules are. The buyer has total control over all eBay transactions. As of a couple of years ago, sellers are required by eBay to offer a 100% money back guarantee for any reason, a made-up reason, or no reason at all. The seller is further required to insure that the item is delivered to the buyer. But even if it's tracked and signed for by the buyer, they can claim they never signed and eBay will back them. And if any seller thinks that checking the "No Returns Allowed" box when posting your ad means something .... trust me. It doesn't.

eBay has the sellers locked in. There is nowhere else for them to sell. What ebay needs to thrive is buyers. Lots of happy buyers. So they bend over backwards to accommodate them and demand that sellers offer unreasonable guarantees. In the 1930s, they called this racketeering.

GREAT place to buy. Horrible place to sell these days.

Well the way i look at it will be that my ebay listings will be a much higher price on items then listed here on the basis that one successful sale will cover the cost of a loss on another. I mean this is a hobbie not a job i don't make massive money on stuff to cover losses

For U.S. sellers, if you use a trackable delivery method, you are 100% protected against all claims of non-delivery for up to $750 with no signature required. In the event a claim is filed against you, you only need to provide Paypal with a tracking number showing the item delivered to the city of the buyer's confirmed Paypal address. For transactions above $750, you must obtain a signature upon delivery but, as long as you do, you are again 100% protected against all claims of non-delivery.

    Every single time.

EBay's policy to side with the buyer is a license to steal. EBay debited my account for over $1k because a buyer said he didn't receive an item which was a BS scam.

Like John said, you need to send the item with tracking number and proof of delivery and on large value items you need insurance. I have never had anyone say they didn't receive and item, but if you are sending without tracking and no proof of delivery you are just asking for trouble. I am guessing Rolly that you didn't have tracking or proof of delivery on yours either.

I agree with Mike. You must budget for all shipping, insurance and tracking. And when the buyer was international, i have had good success with eBay's global shipping program thus far.
