    VIN question

On a 68 the first digits are for type and year 118, the fourth is for body type and the last four are the sequence. My question is, is the sequence independent of body type. In other word, would 11825122 for example come right after 11855121. Under the same assumption then I guess it's impossible to have the same last four digits twice.

I believe it may be independent. In other words, my car '68s has a vin 002 and was built in July. I believe 001 targa was built some months later. Experts here will confirm, as I don't qualify as such.
