Solex Carbs were made in France and Germany (1964)....meaning, most of the linkage parts were made in France and some of those parts were Yellow. The other parts made in Germany were clear. Just a FYI, Solex carbs are not all clear when it comes to the plating.

All ATE calipers were yellow zink starting in 1963.

    OK good to know.

By the way on the rocker decos, txs for all the info Karim. Unless anybody objects based on other evidence, I guess we believe all 1965 produced cars had them, as brochures and tests not showing the rocker decos were mostly done on 1964 cars or prototypes. The 1965 manual also contains wrong fotos of earlier versions, and this was the practice.

I tried to research the Solex linkage color 14 years ago or so--I might even have called Bruce Anderson. I think most of the linkage was usually clear. The only contemporary color source I have is a small picture from a brochure printed in March of 1965 (often called the "Red 911" brochure):

I do think the four special screws holding each float bowl were originally yellow on my car and maybe also the little turnbuckles to adjust each carburetor's link to the main linkage.

The pictures are of the very first version on the left and the second version on the right. The 3rd version (not pictured) was used from 66 on.
I finally got to view the calipers of my April 1965 912. The front calipers are of the type with the lesser cooling ribs. It is an indication the change to the small ribbed version happened before end 1Q. Then again, the timing of the change in the Reuters factory and/or the 911 might have been completely different.

Below are pictures of a pre-production 901 (chassis 13325 yellow) tested in late 1963 and test report first published at ams magazine in april 1964, which I have.

Wondering if any details made it to 1964 models as the black sprayed area around engine lid opener.
What about the rear seat design. Also, Im no technical specialist so what is the "thing" in the trunk ? webasto ?
And yes, saw the steering wheel and what is about the door design (metal parts).

the metal thing does not look like any webasto stuff i have ever seen
could be a washer fluid container....maybe a prototype.
the drip pan drain tube exits the luggage comp through the wheel house.

pic shows details that also did not make it into production.
the sharp edge stamping and the mounting point

    whats wrong with the door?
