GT3 (RS) manual is coming, the 911R to be unveiled in june

Several Porsche clients have confirmed that Porsche will deliver 600-800 GT3 cars with manual gearbox to its most loyal buyers. Every dealer is to get 1-3 cars. The name of the car is 911R and it will commemorate 50 years of 911R (1967). The car will have the 3,8 GT3 or the 4,0 GT3 RS engine, but it won't have an abundance of spoilers. The car will have a retro interior and maybe some lightweight parts. Porsche has not communicated the car but all units are sold. The first units will be delivered fall next year, so model year 2017.

How do you define "most loyal buyers?"

I think Anatol is right. Sort of. People that did not get a 918 Spyder, people that kept asking for a manual sporty 991, long time clients etc.

If you wanted at 918 and couldn't get one are you thinking a sporty 911 would fix the itch ? you have to be kidding right .... buy a CGT now that would be a fix ...

Getting a 918 spot was easy. All you had to do was ask your dealer. They were
    slow selling...

    Ideal Spec....911R

Creating the Ideal 911R, if Porsche were 'half smart' they'd take inspiration from the Singer models and give us in an OEM 911R:

    - simple non sunroof narrow body lightweight coupe
    - 400 hp non turbo Mezger engine and simple 6 sp manual
    - 50s/60s flat colours; duck egg blue, stone grey, cream/ivory, a lovely flat 50s green
    - Fuchs style alloys as used on the 997 Sport Classic and 997 Speedster
    - the houndstooth seats they used in the 997 Sport Classic in an interior with the trim able to be ordered in green, red or tan
    - green instruments
    - dual pea shooter exhaust or a single long one like the racing 356 Carreras (but modern pedestrian legislation might prevent this?)
    - high quality leather door pulls and matching luggage straps
    - simple but classy chrome highlights on the bodywork e.g. lamp surrounds
    - no wings or chintz, simple and unadorned
    - and commission Heuer to make a pair of mechanical timers for the middle of the dash

    What have I missed...... ?

I think you've nailed the ideal spec, 1st. My only additional wish would be for a chassis smaller than that of the 991.
