He is crazy
This guy is a total time waster and ego maniac. Tried dealing with him a few years ago and it was a total waste of time. I wish anyone dealing with him good luck.

has he sent you guys nasty pm's like he did to me?
One thing forgotten in these threads is that the collection resides in Wyoming...which in some ways represents the Wild West. I admire it, but Jackson is the town everyone wants to be in...with avg home prices at or near $1 M. Cheaper than Aspen though.
When you're in the rest of the state, everything is commensurate with the brand of toughness you carry...strength, and resilience.

No problems with John either. Maybe it is the pushy, flatlander, big city vibe that he senses. I'm sure some think they can put one over on a country bumpkin. I've known him a long time. Since the Steamboat Vintage days. Always congenial and welcoming to his collection of parts and cars. He is a good guy IMO. I think it is best if you go there and deal personally.
As for Jackson, I live there, here. For 37 years. It used to be god's country. Cowboys, climbers, hunters and skiers and anglers. Maybe a few artists. But it has gone to hell in a hand basket. I can't wait to get out of here. Too many new people with big city ideas and too much money. People who need their diapers changed and the accoutrements of urban living. It really is shocking how people no longer accept responsibility for themselves. It is now filled with lawyers, furniture shops, art galleries and a Starbucks or two.
The place is too beautiful for its own good. Then the state tax structure that lures the landed gentry has created a class society. Never used to be that way. You wouldn't know if a guy had 5 cents or five billion. Every one wore the Wilson tuxedo, Levis and a t shirt. No more. The worst thing is the traffic. Traffic everywhere! You see more cars here in ten minutes than you do in Franconia, NH in two weeks.
Franconia is my home town, I go back each year to put things in perspective.
A really good read is Downhill Slide. A book about the mountain west and ski towns that have suffered a similar fate. We are living that scenario.
Ok, rant over, now back to Porsche.

Anyone know how he was able to accumulate such a collection of early 911's?
Or your delicate prose?
Well/anyway --- since you asked . . .

My perspective is similar to Steve's. We lived in Aspen at the same time and I went to the ski shop he worked at. I paid $85.00 a month rent to live in town and my favorite bar was Cooper Street and you might have been over dressed in jeans and a t shirt in the summer. Oh, and just about every pickup truck in town had a 30-30 lever action carbine hanging in a gun rack in the rear window. I'll leave the politics out other than the direction saddens me.
The picture is typical of Aspen and Sun Valley's 70's summer dress code. Most of us were a little thinner back then.
As for John I've only known him for about 5 years. I run into him a few times a year. Maybe he is somewhat eccentric, but so am I. I put a POLO in my car against the advice of just about everyone in the Porsche community. Some of us just have to go our own way and the rural west is full of folks like that.
