    Brown Vinyl for 72 911

I just purchased from the original owner a Sepia Brown 1972 911 T that she has maintained in perfect condition for 43 years. It came with brown vinyl in combination with black interior. Even the carpeting is brown. It is all in great original condition except she put in a modern radio with speakers everywhere. The problem is I cannot find a matching source of vinyl to cover up the holes that the speakers and radio left. Any help would be appreciated.

I have gone thru this already. The color, without seeing it, may be what is called Cinnamon. It is not available, very unique and with the years of fading nothing came close. I ultimately found an old headrest that was the same, or close color, and was able to cut it up to use on the dash. Another option was to use an oversized backing plate to minimize the amount of material seen around the radio. This was also offered back in the day and looks good, but still does show around the edges. After 4 years of ownership, I still haven't gotten around to this project, but it's getting closer . Post some pics.

There was a russet brown (not sure if that was the official name. May have been tobacco brown) and a cinnamon.

I was able to match Cinnamon, if that's what you have, by removing the ignition switch bezel and matching the color under it. Unfortunately, it was many years ago and I do not have the vinyl suppler & code any more. This was the result.

I had a car with a tobacco brown interior, in fact that is why I bought it as I was tired of endless black Porsche interiors. It was a bit worn in places and I found a totally new old stock brown interior and switch it out. The car was sold but the old interior sat in a closet in my house (no garage I live in NYC), until after about 10 years my wife said, really, your storing a brown interior, that you pulled out of a car you don't even own anymore? Of course in this hobby you don't throw anything out so I gave it to the folks who work on my car ROCS in Belleville for them to store for the next forever.

Ha. I bought a pair of (tobacco? brown) seats for similar reason: wanted to build a car around them. Plans changed. Now they adorn my living room.

Hard to tell from your pics, but the seats look darker than mine, so maybe Tabacco? Eminence, I love your living room furniture. A true Porsche Guy. Makes me want a Tabacco interior. This is the color I intend to use on my 356.

You need to post better pictures. I may be able to help. I have some NOS cinnamon leatherette that might do the job.

The R&T 911 road test book from the mid 70's, shows an aubergine 73S with tobacco interior with brown/white/black houndstooth. Even in black and white, the photo, it looks spectacular. Mine is Aubergine with cinnamon and madras. The cinnamon is NLA. I was fortunate to find some NOS for a project. It is the real deal.
